Carollee
has been fascinated by patterns of textiles and threads since she was
a child. She grew up in a three generation household where every woman
always had her “handwork” to pull out when she sat for a moment,
where Carollee learned and was expected to make her own clothes and sweaters,
and where
making quilts, coverlets, and embroidered curtains was shared work.
Carollee
learned to weave in the early 1970’s in Guatemala and San Francisco.
She currently works with color and pattern, primarily with hand-dyed
fine silk threads.
