JOHN PITBLADO
contact John

Since childhood John has been intrigued with tangles and knots of yarn and string.

He received his formal arts education at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, then continued in Los Angeles, California, studying garment design and construction at the Los Angeles Trade Technical College.
An expressionist, intuitive and always striving to push the limits of texture and color, he is known for producing hand dyed and hand spun yarns and textiles filled with exuberant colors and dramatic textures.

With an extensive knowledge of spinning, dyeing, weaving and textile history, John teaches often through out Los Angeles and the Southwest. He has been a featured artist and teacher at the Wool Festival at Taos and the Fabulous Fiber Fest in Santa Monica and was the 2006 recipient of the Spin-off Autumn Retreat scholarship.
