Kathleen has
been working with fabric for over thirty years, first as a costumer in theatre
and more recently as a weaver. As a costume historian
she was exposed to the wealth of textiles through time, but she longed
for a more hands on experience. She wove as a child and ten years ago,
rediscovered weaving as a vehicle for creative expression. Also an avid
dyer, Kathleen has a passion for Ikat and Shibori.
Although
she’s left the university life, she loves teaching and continues
to offer workshops and costume lectures on a variety of topics. Her current
creative projects include exploration in Woven Shibori and Weft Ikat using
cotton and silk. Kathleen also harvests her own organic cotton trees and
loves to dye and spin their yield.
