Laura's love for the fiber arts began and was inspired by her early ballet training. Color and movement govern her design process, whether she's working with a fine rayon bouclé or a hand-painted novelty yarn. Her handwoven tapestry "Command Performance" appeared in consecutive editions of Shuttle, Spindle & Dyepot in 2001 and 2002, and was exhibited in the Handweavers Guild of America international juried show "Small Expressions" those same years. In 2002, she learned how to knit on a double bed manual knitting machine, and in 2003 began showing and selling her one-of-a-kind pieces in juried shows and galleries featuring made-in-the-USA, high quality art-to-wear. She currently divides her studio time between her home in Pasadena, CA, and the Ashland Art Center in Southern Oregon.
