Valerie has been working with one form of fiber or another for as long as she can remember. She began felting in 2006 after two trips to New Zealand where she was exposed to it and able to connect with a wonderful group of felters who introduced her to the basic technique and manipulation of wool.
She has since been able to take workshops with incredible felt artists from Finland, the U.K., New Zealand and here in the U.S.
Besides felting on her own, she enjoys teaching when she has time and is available for workshops. Her experience has taught her wool is so willing to be manipulated, letting it be directed or guided into the form desired, whether 3-D or a simple scarf. However, there are times when the wool truly has a mind of its own and the result is always remarkable and sometimes surprising.
